Christopher Muglia

Starting as a deckhand and dive-tender on a salvage ship at sixteen, working alongside ultra-competent mariners and engineers solving complex problems on the fly involving tons of copper and steel. The operational leadership, camaraderie, and grubby notebooks made a lasting impression.

My expertise is in swiftly identifying and resolving practical, operational, and logistical challenges, combining hands-on leadership with high-level strategic insight.

I bring over two decades of maritime and business experience, leading projects and businesses in various infrastructure sectors and the blue economy across Asia, the Caribbean, Oceania, the EU, and the US.

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with diverse stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, universities, startups, and private companies. I have successfully led complex initiatives, overseeing everything from strategy development to hands-on execution on land and at sea, ranging from deepwater desalination, marine construction, offshore oil supply, oceanography, and other ocean-related initiatives.

My background includes everything from spearheading innovative data trust projects with global academic partnerships to delivering on-the-ground solutions in the Caribbean and Pacific islands to providing advisory services to the SFSU Estuary & Ocean Science Center in San Francisco. Throughout my work, I focus on achieving effective and economically viable outcomes.

I am also working on solar and renewable energy storage projects, providing practical insight into funding, strategy, floating infrastructure, execution, and operations tailored to the business and economic dynamics unique to EU and island markets.

Educational Foundation: BBA, MIT Dept. of Ocean Engineering Executive Course in Entrepreneurship & Intrapreneurship, and Y Combinator Startup School.
